College Well Planned offers a wide range of college consulting services, from comprehensive, full-service plans to smaller, targeted packages. » The Comprehensive Package (Grades 11-12)


This package can begin anytime during the junior or senior year, with full-service support, including unlimited e-mail and phone access, through the first semester of college.

Services included in this popular package:

  • Detailed overview of the college admission process, including timeline and deadlines
  • Access to exclusive online personal student portal, CustomCollegePlan, a key organizational tool
  • Review of transcript/previous academic accomplishments
  • Advice on high school course selection
  • Recommendations on extracurricular involvement and summer enrichment
  • In-depth test recommendations on ACT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests (choice and timing of tests, test prep options and timing) – development of individualized timeline
  • In-depth discussion of major choices and career planning, including administration of career assessment and personality inventory
  • Discussion of merit aid, need-based aid and analysis of Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
  • In-depth interviews on college preferences (both student and parent(s))
  • Preparation of an initial list of colleges uniquely suited to the student (15-20)
  • Discussion, research oversight, refinement and preparation of a Final College List (typically 6-10)
  • Advice on making successful college visits, practice interview session(s) as needed
  • Assistance with Common Application (development and review) as well as all non-Common Applications
  • Assistance with formatting and development Activities Resume (as well as editing)
  • Common Application Essay – from brainstorming to final review
  • Development and review of up to 8 supplemental essays
  • Discussion of financial aid options, forms, timeline, strategies (FAFSA and CSS/Profile)
  • Scholarship identification and recommendations
  • Review and analysis of college aid packages, help with making final choice when decision letters are received
  • Transition to college (both students and parents) – materials and discussion

» The List Builder (Grades 11-12)


This smaller package is aimed at students who feel they don’t need many of the services of the Comprehensive package, but who would like help building an appropriate College List.

Included in the List Builder package:

  • Overview of the college admission process, including timeline and deadlines
  • Review of transcript/previous academic accomplishments
  • Access to exclusive online personal student portal, CustomCollegePlan, a key organizational tool
  • In-depth interviews on college preferences (both student and parent(s))
  • Preparation of a balanced list of colleges uniquely suited to the student (10-15), including Solid, Target, and Reach choices
  • In-depth discussion of these choices, with suggested strategies for evaluating colleges via research and visits
  • Up to 4 individual meetings; all additional research time also included

» College Launch (Grades 9-10)


The College Launch package is designed especially for students in grades 9-10, with the goal of providing a strong foundation for the college application process. Students may join College Launch at any point during these years, with a program designed to fit their needs at that time.

College Launch services include:

  • Review of transcript
  • Advice on high school course selection, with analysis and discussion of course rigor
  • Recommendations on extracurricular involvement and summer opportunities
  • Testing and test prep recommendations
  • Administration of personality/learning styles assessment
  • Discussion of how to make the most of the high school experience
  • Initial discussion of factors affecting college choice (with student and parent(s))
  • Fee may be credited toward Comprehensive Package if purchased by the end of the sophomore year. Students also receive priority registration for future packages.
  • Up to 4 hours of private meeting time included.

» Customized Mini Packages (All grades)


Students with specific or limited needs may prefer a targeted Mini Package.

Possibilities include:

  • Essay brainstorming & review
  • Activities Resume development & review
  • Academic and/or testing advice
  • Application development and review
  • Scholarship identification and recommendations
  • Financial aid – requirements, application support, discussion of appeal techniques
  • Choosing a college major/career counseling

» Hourly Consultation Services (All grades)


In addition to the packages above, College Well Planned services are available on an hourly consultation basis. Hourly rates are generally limited to those established clients who have purchased one or more of the above packages.
